Holistic Mission

Evangelism & Missions

“This is a valuable sample of evangelical ‘reflection on praxis’ from men and women active in holistic mission as well as theological education in different parts of the world. The book offers different but complementary perspectives on the development of the concept of holistic or integral mission in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe. The Lausanne movement since 1974 contributed to match evangelical zeal for evangelism with realism and sensitivity to the pain and tragedy of the human condition of the poor who are the majority of the world. Some of the tensions within world evangelicalism that are part of this development point to a process of growth in acceptance of the fact that the Christian church today is a global reality. Acceptance and acknowledgement of that fact is indispensable for the continuation of Christian mission, and this book is an excellent contribution towards that kind of understanding.”

Problems of Christian Leadership

Church Leadership & Ministry

“As I read this short but powerful book by John Stott I was reminded of the impact of the lectures that he presented in Quito, Ecuador, in 1985. They touched my life at a crucial point as we experienced a change of leadership in evangelical student work in Latin America. Since I met him in Cambridge in 1959, Stott had modeled for me a truly biblical style of leadership. I know hundreds of people around the world who have had the same experience. In these chapters you will find biblical exposition, personal examples and fascinating anecdotes that reflect the principles that explain why he kept his successful leadership role in world evangelicalism. He uses a clear and attractive narrative style that makes for easy reading but always takes you to a reflective mood.”

Revolutionary Christianity

Theology

“For those of us that heard some of these lectures in the atmosphere of social turmoil of Latin America in the 1960´s and 1970's, it is a joy to see them gathered and published in book form. Yoder's fresh and creative way of reading both Scripture and the Anabaptist tradition is still surprising and challenging. I am amazed by the continued relevance of his theological reflection and thankful for it.”

The Change of Conversion and the Origin of Christendom

History & Biography

“First-class insight into the life and mission of the Christian church in the first four centuries, based on solid scholarship and a clear sense of mission.”

The Liberating Mission of Jesus

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

Foreword

“I have used this book as a study text in my teaching in the Americas and Europe, especially in courses dedicated to the foundations and understanding of Christian mission in the twenty-first century. An important reference point for men and women that approach the text of Luke today is that the author of this work is not a classroom academic, but a Pentecostal pastor that lives on the frontiers of service to the poor. This second edition has been enriched with new chapters, and at various points the author has corrected and refined his treatment of the biblical text, also updating references to bibliographical sources. All of this will be of great help to scholars who wish to deepen their understanding of the Third Gospel, beginning with the missiological and pastoral fundamentals that Dr. Lopez offers us with such clarity.”
