Odes to Common Plants

Arts & Literature

“From balm of Gilead to shamrocks and dandelions, Parrotta’s Odes reveals a nimble wordsmith gifted with a botanist’s eye and a storyteller’s soul. Naughty children play tricks with sticks and joyfully craft weed bouquets, a granddaughter breaks out Grandpa from the nursing home to share a nourishing meal of foraged greens, a wisteria vine is a monster to be stopped; these are only three of the subjects of the captivating poems blooming in this green woman’s garden.”
