“Stewards of the Earth provides a unique historical perspective on the shifting and often uncomfortable relationship between evangelicals and environmental issues. As environmental challenges become more acute and this conversation intensifies, it is tempting to forget our history. Although I have been involved in the creation care movement for nearly thirty years, there is much here that I had never seen and much that gives context for where we are today. The book also includes some classic articles, such as Dr. Paul Brand’s amazing ‘A Handful of Mud,’ which was one of my inspirations for getting involved in issues of soil and water. Environmental stewardship has been a topic of discussion within the evangelical church for far longer than I knew and has always been an issue of both passion and pushback. This book helps to fill in much of that history.”
