Life in One Breath

Science & Faith

Foreword

“This book is a carefully considered, long-matured, and worthy follow-up to Lococo’s 2002 Towards a Theology of Science. We have perhaps not yet arrived at the theology of science, which Lococo argued in 2002 ‘does not yet exist.’ But with these meditations, Lococo has taken one more step in that direction.”

Of Prayers and Tears

Theology

“Saitya Brata Das reminds us that the most radical thought facing political theology today is that of the end that does not return us to a beginning but inaugurates the unprethinkable new (the biblical eschaton) and the heterogenous politics of nonviolence which it promises. An important contribution to an already impressive oeuvre.”

Political Theology of Life

Theology

“In this profound and timely meditation on political theology, Saitya Das demonstrates that the thinking of transcendence in Paul, the Greek fathers, Eckhart, Schelling, and Kierkegaard gives the lie to the widespread contemporary presupposition that philosophies of immanence emancipate life from metaphysics. On the contrary, Das shows that immanentism is actually a disavowed and nihilistic will to power, while transcendence frees life by possibilizing all things and releasing us into the new. With this work, Das emerges as the Barth of continental philosophy.”

Radix Naturalis

Philosophy

“Cramm is an intellectual virtuoso, who can trace the ecological crisis back to Pelagius and found a new approach to the environment on Trinitarian semiotics. Communication according to Cramm is not, as nominalists would have it, a human act of labeling mute things, rather it is basic to being as such. It might have taken the Christian dogmas of the Trinity and the incarnation to reverse the Greek marginalization of the sign, but Cramm’s semiotics is intended for a fully secular uptake, as we scramble to find intellectual resources to build an ecological civilization. Radix Naturalis is an important contribution to a literature only now beginning: philosophy of the environment in the Anthropocene.”

The Last Thing Is Longing

Arts & Literature

“Michelle Rebidoux is a scholar and a poet. She succeeds in holding together much that the rest of us must divide: mind and heart, joy and longing, divine presence and absence. We are gifted by these poems, which belong to the lineage of Rumi, John of the Cross, and Gibran. Above all, we are gifted by Rebidoux’s witness to the depth dimensions of human living and dying.”
