Finding America in Numbers

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“In Finding America in Numbers, Rabbis Michael J. Broyde and Reuven Travis deliver an inspiring and urgently relevant work. Much like Habakkuk, who sought God’s voice in a world of violence and division, the authors courageously navigate the challenging narratives of Numbers—stories of rebellion and judgment—to forge powerful links between biblical truths and the core principles of American democracy. For Christian readers like myself, the book is a revelation, making complex theological and legal ideas beautifully accessible. It compellingly argues that Scripture isn’t merely a spiritual foundation but a vital guide for civic engagement and moral action. With profound rabbinic wisdom, Broyde and Travis highlight the shared values that underpin both biblical teachings and American democracy. Their powerful message is clear: In our divided times, the Bible’s enduring relevance offers a crucial path to restoring unity and understanding. This book is a beacon for anyone seeking light in the chaos.”
