Inventing Christic Jesuses, Volume 1

Theology

“A challenging yet reassuring invitation for theologians and thinking Christians generally to prosper in open but critical engagement with the recent quests for the historical Jesus. This is a splendid work, at once wide-ranging, meticulous, practical in its guidance, and keenly sensitive to both the insights and the blunders attending every twist and turn along this ‘new avenue’ for Christology.”

Inventing Christic Jesuses: Rules and Warrants for Theology

Theology

“With great dialectical finesse, Charles Wilson steers beyond both facile applications of Jesus research to theology and fearful insulation of theology from historical discovery, thereby yielding practical recommendations for a christology appropriately informed by historical inquiry. Ever cautious, rigorous with attention to detail, yet resolute in exploring opportunities for christology, and ultimately encouraging about the prospects, this unique work will challenge everyone to consider the surprising twists and turns involved in the invention of Christic Jesuses.”
