“The Pentateuch seems forbidding and alien to many believers. But, Ian Vaillancourt has written a user-friendly introduction to the theology of the Pentateuch that will enable readers to get a big picture of the theology of the first five books of the Bible. He also shows in each chapter how the Pentateuch points forward to and is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Readers will see more clearly how the entire Bible fits together in this fine work.”
The Doctrine on Which the Church Stands or Falls
Theology
“The breadth and depth of this new work on justification is quite astonishing. An array of scholars from various backgrounds assess the biblical witness, the theological profile, the historical backdrop, and the pastoral application of justification. A most impressive achievement.”
Theology
“The glory of God is beautiful and lovely. It is the reason God created the world and the purpose of our lives. Donnie Berry aptly summarizes this central theme by conducting a tour of the biblical story line. Readers will be encouraged, strengthened, and full of praise as they reflect on God's splendor.”

“Paul’s letter to the Romans is like Mount Everest in its grandeur and beauty. How fitting it is, then, for one of the deans of New Testament scholarship, Richard Longenecker, to present his interpretation of the letter in this magisterial commentary. All the virtues of Longenecker’s work are evident here: in-depth exegesis, careful evaluation of the literary and historical setting of the letter, and consideration of the letter’s message for readers today. Interpreters of Romans are indebted to Longenecker and will want to consult his work regularly.”

“James Ware’s exposition of 1 Corinthians 15 is a masterpiece of careful exegesis combined with theological insight. On the one hand, Ware defends a traditional and historically rooted conception of the resurrection. On the other hand, there are numerous fresh exegetical insights that characterize his exposition. No other study on 1 Corinthians 15 surpasses Ware’s work.”

“Köstenberger and Stewart provide for us a faithful and useful guide to the early days of Jesus. This book should serve well those desiring to learn about the early chapters in the Gospels and those who desire to preach and teach these narratives.”

“Gospel harmonies are out of fashion today, but this is no ordinary gospel harmony. For DelHousaye enriches the reader with commentary and reflections on every dimension of Gospel study. The task is monumental, but DelHousaye proves to be a competent guide.”

“In this captivating book John Piper defends the truth that justification is the heart of the gospel. Wright's views are presented with scrupulous fairness. I found this book to be not only doctrinally faithful but also spiritually strengthening.”

“Andy Davis encourages us with the hope of heaven that is promised, showing from Scripture and with many helpful illustrations and stories that our future will be dazzling and thrilling. What makes Davis’s work especially compelling is that he explains how the hope of heaven transforms our lives now. Read and be encouraged and challenged.”
The Inner Story of the New International Version
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“Murray Harris, a well-known and premier New Testament scholar, provides a history of the New International Version in its early days, including some reflections on the translation up until the present day. The difficulties and decisions involved in translating the text are explained well. Harris, who is an expert grammarian and exegete, also gives us a number of short case studies of particular verses. We can be thankful for the legacy Harris has left for future generations, and for the wisdom that informs the present work.”

“Sigurd Grindheim’s commentary is an outstanding contribution to scholarship on Hebrews. At the same time, it is accessible to readers who desire help in interpreting the letter. Grindheim offers his interpretation in conversation both with interpreters throughout history and with modern scholarship. He also interacts often with primary sources, particularly Philo, as he guides readers through Hebrews. We have the benefit, therefore, of an interpreter who has considered the broad swath of the interpretation of Hebrews throughout the centuries. Still, Grindheim presents his own reading clearly and concisely. Here we find both careful exegesis and theological depth. I believe Grindheim's work will be consulted for years to come.”

“All the virtues of Doug Moo’s work in the first edition of his Romans commentary are retained in the updated second edition. The commentary displays careful and rigorous exegesis, reflecting the mature judgment of a seasoned scholar who has considered the meaning of Romans for many years. At the same time, the theology of Paul’s greatest letter is explained clearly and brilliantly. . . . Moo’s first edition of Romans is the best commentary on Romans available, and the only volume that surpasses it is his second.”

“It seems that there is always more to say about Romans because Romans always has more to say to us. Stanley Porter has assembled a fine collection of scholars for the task, and here we find helpful essays on historical background, how linguistics shapes our understanding of the letter, the use of the Old Testament, along with essays that survey the letter. We are treated here to stimulating exegesis and application to everyday life and are reminded afresh that Romans speaks to both the mind and heart.”

“Larry Helyer's book on the life and theology of Peter fills a recognized gap in scholarship. Under one cover we are treated to the story of Peter in the New Testament and accounts about Peter in postcanonical documents. In addition, Helyer's study of the theology of Peter is both scholarly and accessible to readers, showing that he is concerned about the message of Peter for today's reader. Helyer's scholarship, fairness and devotion to the message of Peter all shine through in this volume.”
The Living God and Our Living Psyche
“In this volume we are treated to a briefer version of Greg Beale's massive commentary on Revelation, but that work's exegetical depth and theological profundity are still present in the abbreviated volume. No one can afford to preach, teach, or write on Revelation without reading Beale.”
The Message of the Old Testament
Christian Living
“For many Christians the Old Testament is daunting and confusing. The books are long and speak about a culture dramatically different from ours. Mark Dever’s sermons do not substitute for reading the Old Testament, but they do provide a wonderful help in understanding it. Dever unpacks the major themes of each book with remarkable clarity, and the book also shines in conveying the message of the Old Testament for today. Here is a survey of the Old Testament that is accessible and spiritually edifying.”
The New Testament in Seven Sentences
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“Burge gives us a panoramic vision of some of the major themes in the Scriptures in this wonderfully accessible book. Sometimes we plunge into reading the Scriptures without an understanding of its larger story line, and we all know that it is difficult to understand the parts of a story without having a grasp of the whole picture. Burge unpacks the meaning of the Messiah, cross, Spirit, and new creation, along with other central themes. This book is a great tool for personal reading, for group studies, and for preachers and students.”
Theology
“The Christology of Hebrews, particularly what the author means in identifying Jesus as the Son, has long been debated. Jamieson argues that the earliest interpreters in church history had a simple and yet elegant explanation, which clarifies sonship language in Hebrews. Jamieson doesn't stop with the earliest interpreters or even begin with them. He maintains that these ancient readings accord with the historical meaning of Hebrews, that they match the intention of the author. Jamieson reminds us that our ancestors in the faith are indispensable sources for understanding New Testament authors. I found Jamieson's argument to be refreshing and convincing. Even those who disagree in some respects will find much here to stimulate their thinking.”
