Christian Faith

Theology

“Preeminent theologian of the Reformed tradition Brian Gerrish has here set forth his much anticipated dogmatics in outline. He goes to the heart of essential Christian doctrines, adeptly engaging relevant biblical texts and key theologians. In the process, he conducts sustained conversations with Calvin and Schleiermacher—theologians for whom he is one of the foremost interpreters. Gerrish offers his own constructive conclusions in a set of theses, making good on his conviction that this is a living tradition inviting reinterpretations responsive to the context in which Christian faith is to be lived out. Christian Faith is truly a rich feast and will likely be recognized as one of the finest works of dogmatic theology in our time.”

The Relational Power of God

Theology

“Omnipotence as ‘God in control of everything’ issues in an intractable theodicy problem and an implicit sanction for power in the mode of domination and control. O’Donnell offers a coherent and compelling alternative shaped by panentheism, process relational thought, and Moltmann’s social Trinitarian theology. This book is more than a merely theoretical exploration. It has grounding in lived experience of human trauma and tragedy, which press the question: If God is in control, what kind of God is this?”

Twelve Virtues

Preaching & Worship

“Craig Mindrum has here gifted us with a fresh and creative approach to biblical interpretation in the service of preaching. He invites us to bring responsible scholarly interpretation into practical engagement with challenges of faithful living in our time. The chapters demonstrate how that is possible and why it is essential. Mindrum’s writing is prophetic and profoundly insightful. It is spiced with humor and down-to-earth grappling with real-life issues. The book is commendably accessible and will prove usable for devotional reading, small group discussions, and for pastors as an aid to more faithful and effective preaching.”
