Apologetics
“Apologetics after Lindbeck is a timely and much-needed contribution to apologetics literature. Gibbs's emphasis on aesthetics is particularly welcome. The book's formed, accessible, and engaging prose should lend itself well to both the classroom and scholarly libraries.”
Artificial Intelligence and the Apocalyptic Imagination
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“If you want to think theologically and ethically about artificial intelligence, Michael Paulus has written the book for you. Although he uses the biblical theme of apocalypse throughout the book, his account of artificial intelligence is thoughtful, measured, and engaging. As a bonus, the text is well-written and reflects a command of the most pertinent literature.”
Bild-ing a Memory Model of God
Science & Faith
“Quite a few books have been written, respectively, on the image of God, theological anthropology, and neuroscience, but few weave these themes together in a single text. Kwang-Jin Oh has done so seamlessly and insightfully, as well as suggesting a number of implications for future inquiry. An impressive first book by a young scholar.”
Bioethics and the Character of Human Life
Science & Faith
“Gilbert Meilaender is arguably one of the most insightful and clear-minded bioethicists of our era. This collection only serves to reinforce that status. Every chapter is a pleasure to read and a treasure-trove of wisdom.”
Science & Faith
Foreword
“Daly has written an engaging book. He draws upon the Christian theological tradition and a number of contemporary theologians to trace the lineage of our current circumstances. . . . The combination of theology and ethics gently pushes the reader to consider who they are as embodied and thereby finite creatures who grow old over time. And that is no reason to despair, for that is what creatures are intended to do by their Creator.”
Christian Ethics and Moral Philosophy
Theology
“At last, an introduction to ethics that is simultaneously scholarly, comprehensive, and accessible. The authors have crafted a well-written and engaging book that is aimed at students with little philosophical or theological background. This text should make teaching ethics much more enjoyable and effective for both students and teachers.”
Theology
“A masterful book on the important biblical concept of the imago Dei, which has too often received cursory treatment. The breadth and depth of Kilner's scholarship are impressive, and his carefully crafted work is simultaneously astute and engaging. . . . Students and theologians will be consulting his Dignity and Destiny for years to come.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“and engaging manner. I am always impressed by how Scott Rae can cover such a range of issues in ways that are simultaneously timely and timeless.”
Nationalism and Heresy in Augustine
Theology
“Greg Forster has written a solid account of Augustine’s works on the relation of theology and political governance. He has penned a well-crafted argument critically surveying both the primary texts and relevant works of Augustinian scholars in a concise and astute manner. But Forster has written more than a text on church history. He uses an Augustinian framework to evaluate contemporary Christian political theology. His conclusion is provocative, namely, that heretical theology is a fertile field for bad politics, both in Augustine’s day and our own.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“At last, a much-needed book on a neglected topic. Robotics is playing an increasingly important role in our society, and yet little has been written from an overtly Christian perspective. Robot Theology corrects that oversight in a timely and highly engaging manner.”
Ethics, Culture & Social Issues
“Once again, Oliver O’Donovan has taken on an important and challenging topic and treated it with his customary thoroughness and incisiveness. The Disappearance of Ethics reflects the wise insights of a senior scholar that are simultaneously measured and bold. This is a must read for everyone claiming ethics as their discipline, as well as those who are interested in or concerned about the current state of ethical discourse.”
The Reconciliation of Humanity in Christ
Theology
“Peter Hong has written a book on an important topic that sets just the right tone at just the right moment. His overview of globalization is expansive but not so broad that it risks being thinly developed. His theological analysis is insightful without becoming bogged down in minutia. Together, these two qualities shed a timely and clarifying light on our contemporary world.”
Christian Living
“Many fine commentaries have been written on the Ten Commandments, and Gilbert Meilaender has made an excellent contribution to this collection. But what sets this book apart from the others is that it provides a prism on the Christian moral life more broadly. Each chapter illumines aspects of the gospel as command, invitation, and grace. As always, Meilaender writes in a compelling, engaging, and insightful manner.”
