An Introduction to Ecclesiology
Theology
“This completely revised and expanded edition is an ecclesiological tour de force. With keen attention to the pluralistic and global context of theology today, Kärkkäinen's up-to-date survey of Christian perspectives on the doctrine of the church is as rich in depth as it is diverse in scope. It is certain to be a widely used textbook on the church for years to come.”
Bearing Witness in Acts and Today
Bible Studies & Devotionals
“This terrific book offers a fresh look at Jesus’ charge to his disciples to ’be my witnesses,’ deftly weaving scholarly insights from the Acts of the Apostles with reflections on the challenge of bearing witness in today’s world. This much needed volume will be a great help to anyone seeking ways to faithfully and holistically respond to Jesus’ call.”
Theology
“In this volume, Werntz offers a unique and creative exploration of the Nicene-Constantinopolitan marks of the church through an examination of a wide-ranging selection of lived stories and contestations of the church in the twentieth century. In this way, he invites a fresh consideration of what this history—in all of its messiness—might teach us today about the church’s identity as a people through whom the Spirit yet continues to work and bring renewal.”
Theology
“As he traces the development of creedal Christianity, Hinlicky deftly engages a myriad of early church fathers, conversing along the way with sixteenth–century Reformers, modern biblical critics, and theologians. This is a fresh and timely proposal of a 'generous orthodoxy' that is as evangelical as it is catholic.”
Theology
“This is dogmatics in the very best sense: an unpacking and opening up of Christian doctrines from within a particular tradition (Lutheran) for a contemporary, ecumenical, and pluralistic world. Beginners especially will appreciate Hegstad’s clear, easy to read, and pastoral style, and his engagement with scripture throughout.”
