John Calvin

Theology

“John Calvin's ideals for theological writing were clarity and brevity. Don McKim's work would have made him proud. In fewer than two hundred pages, McKim gives a rich but accessible biography of Calvin, and an equally inviting summary journey through Calvin's mature theology as found in the 1559 Institutes. It makes a good first exploration of the influential Reformed theologian as well as a ready reference guide.”

Paradox Lost

Theology

“Christianity is full of mysteries. They often look like paradoxes, whether in Christian life, biblical teaching, or core theology. Hansen helps us see how exploring those paradoxes is the way to a thriving, living faith.”

Praying in God’s Theater

Prayer & Spiritual Formation

“Revelation is, at its heart, about mysteries. Such things are best approached in prayer, in an attitude of worship, and in conversation with wiser souls. Joel L. Watts's approach does exactly that, weaving a mix of liturgical prayer and scholarly reflections together with insights from commentators both ancient and modern.”

Walk with Me to Another Land

Church Leadership & Ministry

“Rich Zimmerman is a seasoned pastor who has reflected in depth on his experience of transitional ministry. He alternates stories of biblical characters in seasons and moments of transition with stories of interim ministers facing paradigmatic grief and conflicts. In the process he invites pastors to walk with their congregations toward healing and thriving.”

When Heaven Stands Open

Preaching & Worship

“Timothy Slemmons has done us all a great favor with these winsome and moving resources for every Sunday of Year B. Every prayer and response grows from his own close and reverent meditation on the varied texts of the lectionary. Whether used as is or adapted to local contexts, they will push us all to a richer life of public worship.”
