Even Better than Eden

Christian Living

“This delightful book will help you see—through new eyes—the beautiful threads in the rich tapestry of the Bible’s story. I will be recommending this insightful and informative book to many.”

Fight for Your Pastor

Christian Living

“A single preposition can make a world of difference! This book is entitled Fight for Your Pastor not Fight Your Pastor. Peter Orr wisely and winsomely helps us to see the for and then provides practical ways to make it a reality—and all with a touch of humor thrown in. Given everything that has unfolded for churches and their pastors in the last few years, this timely book will encourage church members to be faithful sheep as they seek to encourage faithful shepherds. The content carried even more weight for me since I personally know Peter as a Christian brother who has modeled a genuine love for Christ’s church—for both its pastors and its people.”

He Always Hears

Children & Youth

“Alyson Punzi has not wasted her pain of widowhood; instead, she has left the church with a gift that can serve our children well. The question is, are we willing to take up the gift and use it? We tend to shy away from speaking to our children about loss. But if they live long enough in this broken world, they are going to experience loss. This book will help prepare them for when—not if—it comes.”

His Love Endures Forever

Christian Living

“God is love. This book takes you into the depths of this profound and delightful truth with clarity and care. Here you will learn of God’s peerless, perfect, proportioned, ever-present, self-sufficient, sovereign, eternal, unchanging, passionate, all-knowing, just, and beautifying love. After reading this book, I found myself more moved to pray, more filled with love for the triune God, and more challenged to love others as God has loved me.”

How to Study the Bible's Use of the Bible

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“Most Christians know that the OT relates to the NT in some way—but how? Schnittjer and Harmon provide seven interpretive choices that serve as a useful guide for the student of Scripture. Most importantly, they begin with how the OT uses the OT, before looking at how the NT uses the OT. The overall effect is to show the organic progress of revelation. Whether one agrees with everything the authors propose in their hermeneutical approach, reading this book will stimulate further thinking and discussion in the whole area of inner-biblical interpretation.”

Imprecations in the Psalms

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“Steffen Jenkins has produced a fresh and stimulating analysis of the Imprecatory Psalms that will greatly aid academics and students for years to come as they explore this difficult portion of the Psalter.”

Man of Sorrows, King of Glory

Theology

“Some people think that being Reformed means believing in the five solas of the Reformation or the five points of Calvinism. In his book Man of Sorrows, King of Glory, Jonty Rhodes shows us that the Reformed faith is deeper and broader, as he invites us to look at the person and work of Christ from the perspective of his twofold state (humiliation and exaltation) and threefold office (prophet, priest, and king) set within the drama of the relationship between Father and Son. This book helps us understand the gospel through new eyes as we see the rich structures that undergird Reformed theology. I hope all Christian ministers will encourage every church member to read it!”

Not Home Yet

Theology

“When we are away from home, we long for home. But where is home for the Christian? In this insightful biblical theology of ‘home,’ Ian Smith helps us see that this world, and even heaven (as an intermediate state), is not our home—we’re just passing through, as we await our eternal home of the new heavens and the new earth. A great book to be read for the journey home.”

Tea with Thomas Boston

Bible Studies & Devotionals

“Over the years I have tried to read for myself, and recommend for others, mini systematic theologies to grasp a comprehensive view of the Christian faith. And now I have just found my new favorite: Tea with Thomas Boston. It is not because I love tea. In fact, I do not drink tea or coffee. (Sorry, Dr. Tse!) Rather, this book has become my new recommended mini systematic theology because of Thomas Boston, a pastor-theologian I have come truly to appreciate in recent years. Thomas Boston is one of those theologians who gives you the whole Christ in the whole of Scripture, with memorable illustrations (see his ‘covenant chariots’ sent from heaven to earth to take us to heaven), and in pastorally applicable ways. The Westminster Shorter Catechism provides one of the most clear, concise, and comprehensive summaries of the Christian faith; and now, thanks to the efforts of Chun Tse, we have a most able teacher to guide us through it—the venerable Thomas Boston. So, sit back and, with a cup of tea in hand (if so inclined), drink in the riches of the Christian faith.”

The Justice and Goodness of God

Theology

“This book on the final judgment of God reflects everything we have come to expect from the scholarship of Tom Schreiner—judicious exegesis, confessional fidelity, practical application, and clear writing. The topic is not an easy one to write on, but it is a necessary one lest we forget why the gospel of Jesus is indeed good news.”

The Promise

Children & Youth

“The whole message of the Bible is contained in one promise in one verse: Genesis 3:15. Now here is that promise simply explained and stunningly illustrated for our children with drama and tension. This is a book I’ll definitely be reading to my kids over and over and over.”

The Psalms

Biblical Studies & Commentaries

“In this four-volume work, Christopher Ash casts a vision of the Psalter that is theologically centered on Christ, typologically related to Christ, and ultimately fulfilled in Christ—a book of the Old Testament that reveals, in type and shadow, through image of king and priest, prophet and teacher, supplicant and sufferer, the divinity and humanity of Christ, who in his humanity perfectly expressed the full range of human emotions and affections in the vicissitudes of his earthly humiliation as he awaited his heavenly exaltation. Therefore, he is the true and better singer of the Psalter, the one through whom and in union with whom the Christian and the church today can sing ‘the Psalms of Jesus’ with eyes unveiled. Encyclopedic in scope, enlightening in content, enthusing in purpose—this magnum opus ought to find a place in every pastor’s library, in every student’s book budget, and on every Christian’s bedside table. These volumes will hopefully change the way we read—and sing!—the Psalms for years to come.”

The Serpent and the Serpent Slayer

Theology

“Dragons and serpents have fascinated the human race from time immemorial, whether in secular or sacred literature. In The Serpent and the Serpent Slayer, Andy Naselli fascinates us again with intriguing observations and exegetical insights. Every reader will benefit from this concise biblical theology, understanding afresh that while the Bible is a simple story—as simple as ‘Kill the dragon, get the girl!’—it is also of dramatic interest from start to finish. Naselli also provides us with a timely reminder that the devil is real and active today, deceiving and devouring people; yet the church is not without hope: Christ has crushed the serpent, and one day so too will his church.”
