Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“In this provocative new book on the relationship between John and Paul, Michael Gorman launches a bold new thesis, showing how the historical basis for the Christ-hymn of Philippians 2:6–11 might actually have been the self-effacing example and teachings of Jesus in John 13:1–20. In that light, Gorman here contends not that John is a Pauline Gospel but that Paul is a Johannine theologian. Let the fireworks begin!”

“In this fresh introduction to John, Christopher Skinner treats readers of John to some of the most valuable of recent approaches to the Fourth Gospel clearly and succinctly. Embracing the narrative through the lens of the Prologue, appreciating the sketching of characters, understanding misunderstandings, and seeing John as a two-level drama afford new insights that would otherwise be lost. Here we see John's theological, historical, and literary riddles addressed in helpful and compelling ways; Skinner's readers will not be disappointed!”
Bible Studies & Devotionals
“If the Gospel of John was written not simply to inform but to transform, this spiritual walk into the Fourth Gospel would lead the reader into a life-changing encounter with the subject’s narrative: Jesus. By elucidating central figures in dialogue with Jesus, this book by Jaime Clark-Soles invites readers into the same. Other treatments of John will be informative, but this book could be transformative if read thoughtfully and meaningfully. A rare treat among serious biblical studies texts!”
The Authenticity of the Second Letter to the Thessalonians
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“Whether or not one agrees with Wrede's analysis of the Thessalonian correspondence, his treatment of its unity and disunity is essential reading for New Testament scholars. Now ably translated by Robert Rhea, this text makes a valuable contribution to Pauline studies, within the English-speaking world and beyond.”
The Composition and Order of the Fourth Gospel
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“As Bultmann's commentary on John may be considered the most provocative and influential New Testament monograph of the twentieth century, Smith's engagement of it poses its most important analysis. Here, with an outstanding forward by Alan Culpepper, this pivotal monograph is now available to a new generation of readers in a timely and accessible paperback form. Delighted!”
The Conceptual Worlds of the Fourth Gospel
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“As an advance over narrow, monodisciplinary approaches to the Fourth Gospel, this multidisciplinary analysis of the conceptual backgrounds and foregrounds of the Fourth Gospel by Charles Puskas and Michael Robbins offers a much-needed way forward. In displaying multiple parallels between Jewish and Hellenistic writings and the Gospel of John, today’s readers are well equipped to appreciate more fully how John’s original audiences would have perceived and experienced its message. Here, John’s interfluential dialogical autonomy is clearly displayed. As an autonomous memory of Jesus and his ministry, John’s dialogues with other gospel traditions, the Septuagint and other Jewish writings, and even Hellenistic religions and literature are laid out chapter after chapter, illuminating its rhetorical thrust and message for readers in front of the text both then and now. A must-read for historical, theological, and literary readings of the Fourth Gospel today.”
The Essence of the Christian Worldview
“What is the center of Paul's message? Is it sounded in Galatians and Romans, or might it be more closely tied to his years of ministry and engagement in Asia Minor, the center of the Gentile Mission? In this provocative new take on the Pauline evangel, Matthew DeLockery presents a compelling case for seeing Colossians as the heart and soul of the Christian worldview according to Paul. In challenging the syncretism of the Lycus Valley, Paul here lays out what it means to walk in a manner worthy of Christ, bolstered by the key elements in Pauline theology. A must read for New Testament scholars and readers alike!”
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“As a trusted interpreter of the great teaching gospels of the church—Matthew and John—Dale Bruner now treats readers to the theological manifesto of the church—what can rightly be called ‘the Fifth Gospel’—Paul’s Epistle to the Romans. Matthew and John present deep pictures about the Very Good News; Paul offers deep sentences. In unpacking 1:16–17, the heart of Paul’s message can be seen as offering ‘a Perfectly Right Relationship from and with the very God—and this relationship is received by simple faith.’ Citing some of the most memorable and salient comments from key interpreters over the centuries, this short commentary will be of particular value for preachers and interpreters today.”

“The Sermon on the Mount has long been regarded as the “Manifesto of Christian Discipleship,” and in this momentous contribution, Bernardo Estrada shows us why. Estrada explores how the Sermon on the Mount advances the way of the kingdom, which turns worldly values upside down. Estrada demonstrates that the commandments to love God, neighbor, enemies, and one another are not only the heart of the sermon but the heart of the New Testament itself. Those who read and embrace this book will not only encounter new and transformative insights; they will also become the salt and light of the world, fulfilling the vision of Jesus for his followers.”
Christian Living
“Dominic Done unpacks what it means for each of us to live into the story for which we were created. Rooted in God’s wondrous love for each of us, the way of flourishing becomes clear. In saying yes to what God intends for us, life takes on right courses and new vistas.”
