“Brown’s deployment of traditional forms—sonnet, shape form poems, terza rima, etc.—engages the poetic tradition both structurally and affectively, as her individual talent candidly recognizes the standards by which she would be measured. The poet consciously speaks of the poet’s craft of order, insight, and surprise—with plenty of all three in City Nave.”
