Beyond the Greek New Testament
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“For many students, the Greek New Testament and the Septuagint are as far as they venture in Greek studies, but the world beyond the Greek Bible is so big. Enter Max Botner’s wonderful resource, Beyond the Greek New Testament. Botner introduces a wide array of texts, beginning with the Septuagint and the Apostolic Fathers and continuing with the OT Pseudepigrapha, Philo, Josephus, and classical historians, philosophers, poets, and playwrights. Botner introduces each corpus and guides students through the necessary grammar and vocabulary. He makes a compelling case that going beyond the Greek New Testament is one of the best ways to gain proficiency and the motivation to continue one’s Greek journey well beyond seminary studies. As I read this book, I felt the excitement that I felt when I first started reading Greek texts, when I sensed a vast new world opening up before me. I wish that this book had been available then! It will certainly be a valuable resource now.”
Christian Living
“Writing from a deeply personal space, Hannah Miller King explores the beauty and significance of the Lord's Supper as a place of hope and encounter. She weaves in the profound significance of Jesus' embodiment—and our own—for the Lord's Supper and Christian community. With words of grace and hope, she shows how abundance, hospitality, and courage all flow from this sacrament. In the end, she presents the Lord's Supper as the anticipation of our deep longing to be truly home—the home that awaits us when we at last see the Lord face-to-face. This book is an invitation to the feast of weekly communion as well as the feast of seeing its profound significance for all believers. I warmly recommend this book to all who are hungry and long to be fed.”
The Concise New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology and Exegesis
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“For decades, students, pastors, and scholars have relied upon the valuable insights contained in NIDNTT. Yet many of the articles contained in the original work by Colin Brown, and even the more condensed and updated version by Moisés Silva, offer insights (although helpful and illuminating) that are not immediately relevant to understanding the meaning of a given Greek word in a particular New Testament passage. Since comprehending the meaning of any word requires understanding the immediate historical and literary context in which it occurs, detailed discussions about what a Greek word meant in its ancient classical usage or its usage after the first century usually go beyond what is necessary for understanding that Greek word in its New Testament usage. Christopher Beetham has thus done a great service for those who study the New Testament. His CNIDNTTE preserves the essence of Silva’s NIDNTTE and yet helpfully focuses on Greek writings that are roughly contemporaneous to the New Testament. This tool will serve a new generation of students, pastors, and scholars as they seek to understand the rich and varied language of the New Testament.”

“Too often, focus on finding a 'road map' for the end times misses the truth that Revelation is about Jesus Christ! Shane Wood does a marvelous job unveiling Jesus in this challenging Bible book. His moving illustrations and strong applications draw the reader into the heart of Revelation and, indeed, into the very heart of God. Accompanying tools (including videos) present practical ways to enter Revelation's text in a transforming way. Well-researched and compellingly written, this book offers insights for those new to Revelation and those who already love its revelation of Jesus.”
Bible Studies & Devotionals
“Yesterday, Today, and Forever is such a treasure! Cockerill’s many years of in-depth study and eager willingness to be mentored by the pastor of Hebrews richly infuse this present volume. . . . Cockerill’s own pastoral heart makes this seven-week study winsome, compelling, and accessible. This book opens the door to one of the most powerful, beautiful, and persuasive sermons ever written! Those who enter this door will be richly blessed.”
Zondervan Compact Greek Lexicon
Biblical Studies & Commentaries
“Lexica, theological wordbooks, and theological dictionaries are essential tools for the study of biblical languages, including Koine Greek. But these tools are often overwhelming with extensive entries. Pertinent information can be hard to identify, leaving users overwhelmed and unsure of the meaning and significance of a given Greek word. On the other hand, abbreviated lexica or vocabulary lists that accompany beginning grammars simplify the lexical universe too much and lead to flattened or even distorted understandings of Greek vocabulary. This is why Paul Jackson’s Zondervan Compact Greek Lexicon is such a valuable resource. Relevant information such as frequency in both the Greek New Testament and the LXX is clearly indicated, often providing verse references for less frequent words. Of particular note is the effort to indicate “contextually controlled meaning” rather than merely list possible glosses for a given work. Glosses are also divided into subcategories, sometimes summarizing the extensive entries in NIDNTT in only several lines of text. Despite the compact nature of this lexicon, relevant Greco-Roman and early-church references are cited when necessary to indicate a word’s usage. Difficult, irregular forms are also listed with clear references to the lexical form. In short, this volume packs an incredible amount of essential information into a surprisingly small number of pages! I will definitely recommend this valuable tool for my students and look forward to using it in my own study.”
